It’s a political and population problem! With the amount of oil there, you guys should be a lot more prosperous!

Answer by frankie_fliss

NOPE. Cause it would be Philippines who would rise among the South East Asian nations. PEACE. It’s our time to shine. Hopefully.

Answer by Rabbityama

Indonesia has great potential to become a highly developed nation. They have a large population for a working force and many resources. If Indonesia can sort out its internal problems, foreign nations will be very quick to invest in Indonesia. Indonesia needs social order and must combat terrorism to convince other nations that their investments will be worthwhile.

One thing that is difficult for the Indonesian government to deal with is the natural disasters. A great deal of money has been spent, especially in recent years, on rebuilding areas of the country that were destroyed by tsunamis. Better disaster preparations and safer housing units would save Indonesia a lot of money and allow them to allocate their funds to other areas, like education.

Answer by jendralus

sure they can, actually its quite easy for Indonesia to get back on its feet and conquer the status of the richest and strongest nation in south east asia. Indonesia’s land is actually blessed with resources, they have everything from coal to oil, from natural gas to palm oils, gold, diamonds, platinium, and many many more.

The problem they are having is corruption and unstable government management, all they need is a strong leader and a strong cabinet. The current government is actually worst, there are many perpects they r not haddli9ng properly. The current President is a good person but a bad decision maker but for now with no one better then him so he is alrite for now.

The Dutch ruled Indonesia for 400 years giving nothing to Indonesia except iron hand, atleast when the British ruled other nations they gave them education, law and business methods….

I m pretty optimistic tht Indonesia will get back to its feet in the near future, they only need a strong influential leader and a strong cabinet, once they have achieved, it will take only 5 years for Indonesia to get back up.

Answer by Mumu

There is only one thing to make INDONESIA to the top of the top.

NO CORRUPTION,…

There are many kind of corruption in INDONESIA, and in every where, every place, every family.

The big corruption place is in the Government Tree !!!

In INDONESIAN language, ” Jika Korupsi itu tidak ada, maka Surga akan pindah ke Indonesia “…

” Met kenal yah …”

Answer by Happy W

“Jika Korupsi itu tidak ada, maka Surga akan pindah ke Indonesia ” in English

” if there is no corruption in indonesia, then heaven will move to indonesia” hehehehe

Answer by hawla_gurlz

In INDONESIAN language, ” Jika Korupsi itu tidak ada, maka Surga akan pindah ke Indonesia “.

Probably it will because as mentioned above Indonesia is the biggest nation in SEA…that means larger teritorial means a lot more resource but of course corruption is done widely even in the lowest government structure. Beside corruption, racist is also a problem. I think if Indos are more tolerable to people, the other religion or ethnic will also do a great deal to the advance the growth.

For recent years, tsunamis, earthquake, etc have weakens the government as well. But again corruption take its part…if not because of corruption, Aceh (biggest disaster so far) would have recover soon.

Don’t you know Indos have won so many physic and math olympic? But where are those geniuous kid? Simple answer…they run to other country coz simply government of Indos are more likely to take their money to their own pocket than seeing this bright potential to shine…at least they get fatter!!! That’s why Indos growth are very slow because scientists are not well respected.

And if you are an Indos and a bright scientist, better leave the country or you will be poor forever! (IMO)

Answer by Executive

Indonesia is actually the 15th richest country in the world and the 5th most powerful country in Asia. So Indonesia is still in power of South East Asia. Even Australia is afraid of Indonesia. I should know, I’m an Indonesian and my cousin works in the World Bank.

Answer by imputh

i doubt it. most people dont like theyre kind. IM NOT racist. but some people are. and its really hard for a low country to become a high one. takes hard work i guess. idk

Answer by Murray H

There are a number of issues here.

Indonesia was once a prosperous nation under Dutch rule, with a good infrastructure, but probably not the biggest or richest.

With independence came dictators and and corruption, which diminishes prosperity.

There are now islands and areas that want independence. That could be solved it they developed a Union of States, like Malaysia.

With the largest Islamic population in the world there is the problem of groups determined to take Indonesia back to the “stone age”

There is the growing rise of terrorist and Islamic extremists, which is of concern to Australia. Remember Bali?

Unless the Government can address these issues it is going to languish or even fall behind the rest of the region

It is a typical place where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer

Answer by bäwЄŁ Ļoĕ ®

hope so..

Answer by Swiss

Prosper Nation? REALLY? Well, I didn’t know about this, although I’ve been living there for many years ago.

There were always poor people at suburb or big city, before & now!

Answer by Bear

The asnwer if yes…it is possible to rise again

What to do?

Fix the law! and get all the kids a proper education!

Fixing law is to bring back all the wicked way of thinking, doing business, runs goverment, even up to driving a car…..back to the right direction…

Proper education is to let the next generation have all the skills and knowledge they need to runs Indonesia…..rightfully….

All the nature resources is the asset of Indonesia….beyond that….HUMAN resources that counts…..

Learn from Singapore….they have so little natural resources but yet bring more impact that other similar country could do…

Answer by Leo de Grump

Yes comrade, but only with an iron hand rule, seize and redistribute policy and most importantly, an HONEST government.

Until the PEOPLE of Indonesia unite as one voice they will always have serious problems. No wonder why Ache, Kalimataan (Borneo) and Papua and (timor.. no longer) do not want to be a part of the Archipelago that is Indonesia.

The government has long been corrupt… Worried about what “clan” will rule and favor one over another, the batak, the mandailing… ohhh wait, aren’t they muslim? Ohh well umm well yeah then they’ll favor other muslims and the Ohhhhh yeah the Chinese they came to indonesia and stole our business(es) so now we treat them like 3 class citizens” (the chinese actually HAD money to set up commerce in Indonesia that’s why they were invoted there in the first place)… What a bunch of crap.

17,000 islands less that 3000 inhabited, most VERY poor, so communication between them will be key.

The United States Department of State’s Human Rights Report for 2003 (issued in February 2004) rates the Indonesian government’s human rights record as “poor” and notes that Indonesia has “continued to commit serious abuses.” Murders, torture, rape, beatings, and arbitrarily detaining civilians and members of separatist movements were all documented as abuses by security force members. The government also was accused of having frequently failed to protect adequately the fundamental rights of children, women, peaceful protesters, journalists, disabled persons, religious minorities, and indigenous people, among others. Aceh and Papua provinces were seen as the scenes of the most apparent human rights abuses, but human rights appeared to have improved in some provinces, for example Maluku and North Maluku, despite sporadic outbreaks of violence.

it goes on and on… it makes me sick to see a wonderful and beautiful people have the mind set of 150 years ago.

..btw, I’m NOT chinese (WASP) now WASM hehe yeah white Anglo-Saxon Muslim. I have MANY Indonesian friends and ALL have a version of “their side” but who is correct? Indonesian NEEDS to clean all the government houses and restructure and work together… once Indo corruption of government has stopped on ALL LEVELS, then Indonesia can begin to heal and become whole again.

I thought this was funny in another post here “Indonesia was once a prosperous nation under Dutch rule, with a good infrastructure, but probably not the biggest or richest” … good for whom the Dutch or the Indonesians? Think about it.

Answer by flee1906

sure y not… i mean really, all those hott engineers there can work some majic on their government’s stuff and get the place up and running as they do with all their construction work.. hehe.

Answer by Goombul!

Indonesia, tanah airku, tanah tumpah darahku.

Di sanalah aku berdiri, jadi pandu ibuku.

Indonesia, kebangsaanku, bangsa dan tanah airku.

Marilah kita berseru, “Indonesia bersatu!”

Hiduplah tanahku, hiduplah neg’riku,

Bangsaku, rakyatku, semuanya.

Bangunlah jiwanya, bangunlah badannya

Untuk Indonesia Raya!

CHORUS:

Indonesia Raya, merdeka, merdeka

Tanahku, neg’riku yang kucinta.

Indonesia Raya, merdeka, merdeka

Hiduplah Indonesia Raya! (*2)

“Great Indonesia”

Indonesia my native land, the land where I shed my blood.

There I stand, being a soldier of my mother. (Note: “mother” here refers to ibu pertiwi which means ‘motherland’)

Indonesia my nationality, my nation and my country.

Let us exclaim “United Indonesia!”

Live my land, live my state,

My nation, my people, all.

Build its spirit, build its bodies

For Great Indonesia!

CHORUS:

Great Indonesia, independent and free,

My land, my country, which I love.

Great Indonesia, independent and free,

Live Great Indonesia! (*2)

In the anthem, we should be proud to be Indonesian, we should build our country, to be victorious! Be ONE, as seperated will weaken our country.

We need to go back to the youth pledge October 28, 1928:

Satu Tanah – Air Indonesia (One nation – the Indonesian nation)

Satu Bangsa – Orang Indonesia (One people – the Indonesian people)

Satu Bahasa – Bahasa Indonesia (One language – the Indonesian language)

and we need to go back to our five principles PANCASILA:

(1) Belief in the one and only God (Ketuhanan yang Maha Esa)

(2) Just and civilized humanity (Kemanusiaan yang Adil dan Beradab)

(3) The unity of Indonesia (Persatuan Indonesia)

(4) Democracy guided by the inner wisdom in the unanimity arising out of deliberations amongst representatives (Kerakyatan yang Dipimpin oleh Hikmat Kebijaksanaan dalam Permusyawaratan/Perwakilan)

5) Social justice for the whole of the people of Indonesia (Keadilan Sosial bagi Seluruh Rakyat Indonesia)

We need to go back to Constitution of Indonesia (UUD 1945)!

Sumpah Pemuda, Pancasila and Constitution of Indonesia has to become a national document on par with the American Declaration of Independence.

By this, we will be a GREAT Nation again!

LONG LIVE INDONESIA, LONG LIVE OUR NATION!

Answer by cute

Indonesian big in talk but no action. If they can change this situation to Action first then talk ,im sure they can.

Answer by Kuchiki Rukia

oh my i sure do hope someday Indonesia will be much better than what it is today.

i so crossed my fingers for that. but to be the best? richest? most powerful nation as Indonesia was before 1997? that would really take awhile, sadly.

for now, i am just hoping things will be better for Indonesia and Indonesians.

Answer by namanick

I hope so. It is just that there are lots of natural disasters and the crisis made it bad. Hopefully it will rise.

Even better than Singapore which is small and easy to control.

Indonesia is huge and the people there are great. Hopefully Allah helps them.

Answer by arthemisme

Y not? I believe it will yet many things have to be done before It rises AGAIN

Answer by dreamweaver

It will take a very very long time for Indonesia to rise again. Do away with a corrupted government and the lazy mentality of the citizens….then, maybe there’s hope!!! I do not even want to talk about the bombing …….(sigh)

Answer by cerbie86

As long as there is a great leader that is willing to practically and radically change and ENFORCE the laws – Indonesia will rise with this kind of leader

However most of the leaders are corrupt so it’s a slim hope

Answer by ctvtv30

i agree with kuchiki rukia for now lets just hope for the better indonesia

Answer by Speedjak

Just sell your country to us Singaporeans. We’ll fix you up real nice and proper. Don’t worry, we will not treat you guys unfairly like most western powers. In our control, Indonesia ( Singapore II ) will certainly become a fully developed country in about 80 years tops.

Answer by sere s

it might…u’ll never know

Answer by bogsDgreat

Frankie is right. Pound for pound…it will be he Philippines…due to its impressive education. In fact, so many Filipinos are now working in Indonesia to help its economy..including executives, engineers, doctors and yes…teachers. I guess…Indonesia will rise also because they learn so much from their Filipino teahers and oher professionals.

Know far better?
