But Ban Ki-Moon said it was important that the conference set a target of keeping keep global temperatures from rising, and established a program of climate aid to poorer nations.

“To maintain the momentum, I urge you to reject last-ditch attempts by climate skeptics to derail your negotiations by exaggerating shortcomings in the … report,” Ban said at the start of an annual U.N. meeting of environmental officials from 130 countries on the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

“Tell the world that you unanimously agree that climate change is a clear and present danger,” Ban said

Because the UN Secretary General doesn’t want politicians to be pressured into denying the very real threat of global warming by people tracking short-term weather phenomenon. It will soon become obvious that the recent global cooling trend was triggered by record low levels in solar radiation. As radiation levels peak again, the Earth will start warming again. Ban Ki-Moon doesn’t want the very serious issues our species’ face to be obscured by advocacy groups overplaying the relevance of recent weather data.
