Uncertainty caused by hannysan: Urgent: Lost All Group Members?
Hi all,
I moderate the “komunitas-elearning-indonesia” group.
It’s just happened that I LOST ALL of the mailing-list MEMBERS. ALL OF THEM.
I was trying to SELECT ALL MEMBERS and change their subscription mode to “Individual E-mails” but now everyone is missing from the membership.
Is there a way to get this back? Why does this happen?
Sorry I’ve tried to search the contact person for this problem but I can not find the support desk.
Please reply to my e-mail: hannysan@yahoo.com or hanny.santoso@eworks.edu.au
Thanks.
hannysan.

To delete a membership – you would have had to hit the “Save Changes” button:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/members/members-22.html
But once you hit that, the member is deleted!
Go to Management / Group Activity / Memberships:
- Under “Activity”: ‘Removed by moderator (your id) via web’ each member will be listed
- Under “Member”: you can find the email addresses.
- Depending on how many members you had, this may take awhile, but at least you can get all the email addresses!
- Copy ALL the deleted members into a file (I recommend Excel or Text).
IMPORTANT list EACH individual member address on a separate line (I will explain why later)!
Now, go to Invite (just above Management).
- Use to INVITE all the members back
- Each member must be listed individually per line
(note, you can invite up to 50 members at a time). The page will explain.
- Put in your message to explain the problem. If you have over 50 members, I would create a text or word file with the data you want to put in the message so you don’t have to recreate it over and over (depending on the size of your membership).
- Click on the blue “Submit Invite” button
- DON’T FORGET to hit the “Invite People” button in the next screen.
Many moderators forget this step and back out before they submit the final invite!
More on Invite:
How can I invite members to my group?
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/members/members-24.html
If your group is set up to approve membership requests, this will not be necessary since these members have been invited by the group owner/moderator.
FYI, Each member will have to reset their message delivery options when they join again:

FINALLY – I recommend that you do the following to become a better moderator:
– Learn as much as you can from Yahoo! Groups Help: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/index.html
– Continue to read and post to this forum: http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/;_ylt=Av6p1ssXrHworcU3anig3wCB7hR.?link=list&sid=396546285
– Go to Moderator Central to learn information from fellow moderators: http://moderators.groups.yahoo.com/
Good Luck!
