People say to me because someone calls Obama the N word when blacks are people to think there is something wrong?

My friends embarrassed me today by calling him that with another friend nearby and I’m sure he overheard it.

I was shocked by some of the things they were saying about him and I was having a terrible time wrapping my head around any other reason besides his skin color that they would call him that!

Is there another semi-logical reason to call him that??

I tried to picture him being a trashy person… and I just couldn’t.

Then I thought I recalled that he was half white or middle eastern anyways… and I think they replied “he’s a n***er” and that he was “for n***ers”

I just don’t get why they were calling him that. It has to be because he’s black…

but these people have black friends…

I guess you can have friends of a particular race and still be racist concerning that same race…

I don’t know!!!! I’m really… confused… my mind… is kind of blown!

How can you treat people one way thats decent and then generalize so negatively???

Sadly, it is because he’s black (he’s half Kenyan & half Irish I believe.) Some people have friends that are of another race, but they can’t envision someone from that group running for president–and that’s hypocritical.

I love the name Barack though, same meaning as “Baruch” in Hebrew (blessed.)

Well if anything I hope you dont look at them as being intelligent. Lets see your friends go to South Central L.A. and say those comments out loud around the people their. They wont make it out alive. Here’s some advice, if you are smart find some new friends to hand out with ok.

No, use of the N word is simple prejudice against black people.

Once upon a time it had a meaning that involved a dumb solution or a dumb person, but it has been applied to blacks for so long that it has lost that earlier meaning. It is such a racially charged word that if I were to use it I could find my response removed.

Since Obama’s middle name is a common one in the Middle East he is more Middle Easterner than black.

So calling him the N word is not only an insult, but a mistake that ignores the majority of his ancestor. It just shows that people who practice prejudice become victims of it by closing there minds.

There is no doubt that Obama is black, you only have to look at his face to see that. He may have a mixed ancestry, but he is black enough to raise the hatred of those rabid fools. As such he wears it as a badge of honor and is supported by folks like Oprah. Technically he is half white, but that doesn’t matter he looks black enough to be considered black and so be hated by those rabid close-minded fools.

To treat people decently you have to get beyond the stereotype, the generalizations and the prejudice. All those are judgments made before you know the person solely based on what color his skin is what his religion is or where they come from. As Jeff Foxworthy says there is a little bit of a redneck in all of us. Your friends are just showing the worst aspects of being a redneck.

That is the description of a person who is far from a fool. I may not necessarily vote for him, but I don’t count him out.
